Brand New Year! Making resolutions is about beginning something new or making a commitment to accomplish something we didn't complete last year. Actually each day is a "new beginning" because we can't change the past and we only have today! "This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!" The choice is up to us.
Several in our church took the challenge to read through the New Testament from October through December last year, using a schedule provided by one of our members. Several completed that challenge.
This year, a new challenge has been issued to read through the Old Testament during this year! There is a reading schedule provided to keep readers on track. The OT is not boring (well maybe a few places may appear to be), but it is exciting, informative, and life-changing! As Paul Harvey might say in reverse "and that's the beginning of the story!"
Genesis is the "foundation" book! Do you know who named the animals? Was the flood over the whole earth or just part of it? What is the real story behind the rainbow? And there is so much more!
Maybe you would take the challenge!
Our Immanuel Baptist Church "theme" for this year is "teachHimpersonally", adopted from our Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma State Evangelism theme. "Sharing Christ begins with God's story and your own story of life change. Teaching Christ personally involves intentional discipleship. It involves hearing what others are saying and pointing them to the truth of God's Word. It involves engaging in purposeful conversations that turn to God conversations." This is a discipling extension of an on-going theme: "My 316" based on John 3:16. How and when did you come to Christ? That's your "my 316!" www.my316.com
Check out the calendar of events and come be our guest as we grow and fellowship together in His love! We hope you will feel like family on your first visit!
We wish you a blessed New Year!
