he temperatures have risen, the humidity has gone up, and storms have hit all around us. It must be summer in Oklahoma! Well, those aren’t the only indicators of summer upon us. We have some exciting events that indicate this at Immanuel also. Our VBS will end on July 2nd. Claudia and many others are working hard to make this the best VBS we have ever had.
On Sunday July 4th we will have a special Fourth of July celebration in the evening starting at 6:00pm. There will be the traditional American goodies and whatever great American side dishes our ladies can make as we celebrate the 234th year God has blessed our country. There will be festivities and a special video presentation about the founding of our country. Invite your friends and make plans to be part of this church family celebration.
July then slows down until our youth travel to Falls Creek on July 26th. Again I am thankful to all who are helping this important event in our youth ministry. Each year we see miracles as God works not only in our youth, but our adults also!
Finally, our association will be traveling to fulfill Jesus’ mandate to witness in our “Samaria” and help a fellow Southern Baptist church in Edgerton Wyoming. In this work we will help a fellow Oklahoma pastor Gary Cargill who is from this area doing God’s work in one of the darkest places in our country. Bro. Gary and his wife Cyndi are looking forward to seeing believers from not only their home state, but their home period, help them reach people for Christ. I will give a full report of this in next month’s newsletter.
Yes, summer is upon us and there is a lot to do, but as with past summers, it will be worth it when we see how God is glorified. Find out where the Lord may want you and take that step of faith to serve Him.
